Ruben Pinzon – Psychologist

Ruben is an enthusiastic and empathetic therapist with practice in clinical, social, and educational psychology. He has 5 years experience in the mental health field, including a year long placement with our team, providing individual, school based, & family support, as well as supporting immigrants in their adaptation process.

Ruben has experience in school settings providing therapeutic services for impoverished children, family violence and other mental stresses. He is passionate about intervention and assessment of individuals and families of all ages and people with diverse cultural backgrounds. He utilises different therapeutic approaches such as client centred therapy, Gestalt therapy as well as evidence based techniques, such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). Currently Ruben is expanding his knowledge on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Ruben has the ability to listen to clients as they journey to better mental health. 

In Ruben’s spare time, Ruben enjoys cycling around the city, exploring different cuisines at cafes and restaurants as well as meditating on the beach. 

Ruben works five days each week with the team, in both our Yarra Junction and Warragul communities. 

Holly Smith – Provisional Psychologist

Holly has recently completed her Master of Professional Psychology and is now completing her internship program with our team. She comes from a background working with adults and young people experiencing difficulties with their mental health, including life stressors, adjustments, anxiety, and depression. 

 

Holly prioritises creating a comfortable, non-judgmental therapeutic environment to promote feelings of safety and trust, and encourage openness and honesty. Holly takes a client-centred approach and uses a number of therapeutic approaches, tailored to each individual’s needs. These include CBT, ACT, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and psychoeducation. 

 

In her spare time, Holly enjoys spending time wiht her dog, being active, and travelling. 

 

Holly is available on Mondays in Warragul, works in a SMP partner school on Wednesdays, and is at Yarra Junction clinic on Thursdays and Fridays. 

Erin Beattie – Psychologist

 Erin comes from a background in early childhood education, has a clinical interest in the early identification and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder in young children, and has experience conducting assessments of development, cognitive capacity, and adaptive functioning. She completed a Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology at Monash University, including a placement with our team in 2021.

Erin is passionate about working with individuals and their families to support development, growth, mental health and wellbeing. She recognises the importance of a client’s support network and working collaboratively with parents, families and schools. Erin uses a client centred approach to therapy, tailoring interventions to the individual’s needs with a commitment to evidence based practices. 

In Erin’s spare time, Erin enjoys socialising with friends and family, being active and spending time with her dog at the park. 

Erin works Monday to Friday with the team, in both our Yarra Junction and Warragul communities. 

Amy Syer – Psychologist

Amy has previous experience working in the early intervention space with young children who have autism spectrum disorder, focusing on play therapy and behaviour management. Amy also has experience conducting cognitive, academic, adaptive functioning, and autism spectrum disorder assessments. She completed a Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology at Australian Catholic University, including a placement with our team in 2021. 

Amy is particularly passionate about inclusion and the wellbeing of all clients and families. Amy works collaboratively with her clients and delivers person centred therapy. In her spare time, Amy loves playing with her dogs and traveling. 

Amy works Monday to Friday with the team, in both our Yarra Junction and Warragul communities. 

Janelle Chilton – Psychologist

Janelle was previously a wellbeing coordinator in a school and enjoys working with children & adolescents. She is passionate about providing a safe & judgment free space. 

Janelle enjoys working with clients to meet their needs, whether it be journeying with them through the assessment process or working towards their goals in intervention. She completed a Master of Educational & Developmental Psychology at ACU, including placements with our team in 2020 & 2021. 

 In her spare time, Janelle enjoys experimenting with home cooked meals & exercising in nature. 

Janelle works Monday to Friday with the team, in both our Yarra Junction and Warragul communities. 

Caity Carlos – Psychologist

Caity has a background in adolescent mental health and school-based support for children. She has experience conducting cognitive, academic, adaptive functioning, and phonological processing assessments. Caity has experience delivering interventions (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and more) with adults and children, and facilitating social support groups. She completed a Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology at Australian Catholic University, including a placement with our team in 2021. 

Caity values working collaboratively with individuals and their families to develop personalised supports. Caity uses a client-centred approach to therapy, tailoring interventions to the individual’s needs with a commitment to evidence-based practices. 

In her spare time, Caity loves visiting the beach and exploring new places and interests.
